Claire Potter

Claire Potter is a second-year J.D. candidate at Yale Law School, where she is the co-president of the Yale Environmental Law Association, a fellow at the Law, Environment & Animals Program, and an articles editor on The Yale Law Journal. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Chicago, where she studied History and English. After college, she joined Valley News, a daily newspaper covering Vermont and New Hampshire, with the support of Report for America. As the paper’s first climate and environment reporter, she wrote about controversies over the management of public lands, the challenges of sustaining small working farms, the spread of invasive species, and the construction of renewable energy. With the support of a grant from the Pulitzer Center, she went on to report on Mexico City’s water crisis. She came to Yale Law School to pursue a career in environmental law. Last summer, she worked on the affirmative litigation team at the Environmental Protection Bureau at the New York State Attorney General's Office.
