University of Montana - Law
Libby is a second-year law student at the University of Montana with a lifelong love of rivers. Childhood float trips throughout the desert southwest instilled in her an early love of conservation, inspiring her to complete an undergraduate degree in environmental science at Willamette University and a master's degree in resource conservation at the University of Montana. She is currently a co-chair of the University of Montana's Environmental Law Group and one of the incoming editors-in-chief of the Public Lands and Resources Law Review. In addition to a long career in wilderness river guiding, Libby has worked and interned with environmental nonprofits throughout the Intermountain West, including the Idaho Conservation League, the Utah Rivers Council, and Advocates for the West. She believes that recreating in wild places confers responsibility for protecting them, and she aspires to work on regional public lands and waters conservation issues after graduation.
