Josh Messe
University of Michigan - Law
Josh Messe is a second-year law student at the University of Michigan. He grew up in Southern California and enjoyed spending time catching frogs and climbing trees in the open spaces by his house. When a multi-year drought struck the region, Josh was forced to grapple with climate change firsthand, strengthening his conviction to address the climate crisis and protect land from further misuse. In law school, Josh serves as the Managing Notes Editor for the Michigan Journal of Environmental and Administrative Law, the Communications Chair for the Environmental Law Society, and the President of Michigan Law’s climbing club. He spent a summer interning at the Municipality of Anchorage and is currently externing with the Sierra Club’s Environmental Law Program. Outside of work, Josh enjoys hiking, rock climbing, and baking sourdough bread.
