The Wyss Foundation is pleased to announce a $100,000 grant to the Brookline Food Pantry, a community organization dedicated to assisting individuals and families in the Greater Boston Area who are struggling with food insecurity. Through this grant, the Brookline Food Pantry has been able to provide healthy and nutritious food for more than 600 families and 450 young students in need each and every week.
“Nutritious food is crucial to supporting a healthy lifestyle and ensuring people are ready for school and work each day” said the Pantry’s executive director, Elizabeth Boen. “In the past five years, the number of families struggling with food insecurity in the area has quadrupled. The Wyss Foundation’s support has been tremendously significant in allowing us to always have ample food to provide our neighbors during these difficult times.”
“Economic uncertainty is making it harder for families to put food on the table” said Wyss Foundation president, Molly McUsic. “Nobody should struggle with food insecurity, which is why we are proud to support the Brookline Food Pantry’s important work ensuring that those in need have access to nutritious food.”
