New Deal Protects More than 3,000 Acres on the Hoh River

The Nature Conservancy announced today that it has purchased 3,184 acres along the Hoh River near the Washington coast from the company Rayonier. The project, which will support public access and stewardship of the lands, was made possible with support from the Wyss Foundation, the Norcliffe Foundation, and other private donors and supporters.

Support Helps Conserve Area in Central Cascades

With the support of the Wyss Foundation and other charitable partners, The Nature Conservancy has closed on the purchase of 47,921 acres of forests, rivers and wildlife habitat in the Central Cascade Mountains of Washington.  The lands, which were purchased from Plum Creek Timber Company for $49 million, will be conserved for public use and enjoyment.
