Rae Ettenger

Policy and Advocacy Fellow, Massachusetts Audubon

Rae is a fellow at Massachusetts Audubon, the largest conservation organization in New England that works to protect the natural heritage of Massachusetts for both people and wildlife. He is excited to support the Nature for Massachusetts campaign by working to secure dedicated funding for conservation and expanding equitable access to nature. Rae is a policy professional and advocate committed to protecting land and water and ensuring that everyone can build a meaningful relationship with nature.

Rae graduated from Smith College with Highest Honors in Environmental Science and Policy, where they combined hands-on ecological research with community and policy work—from studying river ecosystems and macroinvertebrates to partnering with local land trusts and grassroots food equity groups to increase equitable environmental health outcomes. Rae also brings experience working with state and federal elected officials and leading advocacy campaigns that connect underrepresented communities to the outdoors and drive real policy change.

Most recently, Rae led state and regional outdoor recreation policy efforts with the Appalachian Mountain Club, advancing funding for accessible trails and expanding public recreation opportunities for all. A proud New Englander, Rae is passionate about protecting the places he loves and ensuring communities have access to healthy, biodiverse landscapes close to home.
